I'm really glad this is a long weekend, because I could use one. Among other things, I might get caught up with the laundry. In this case, "laundry" includes one trip to the laundromat, because my comforter needs washing and I suddenly need my comforter. My fall quilt is living downstairs for the month.

There are things I need to do at work, but I can't actually finish them without running them past somebody first. Of the two somebodies I could run them past, one is out today and the other might as well be. So I can't finish any of these things until Tuesday. Fortunately none of them are hugely urgent, but they're hanging over me and I wish they wouldn't. One of them is an email the recipient isn't going to like, so I guess it's a good thing that I can't send it until Tuesday. Waiting for a reply to it is going to be hanging over me too.

My reputation as the Copier Whisperer continues; I just put staples in it, after figuring out why all the instructions talking about the "green lever" weren't making any sense. Mostly it was because the piece of copier into which the staple cartridge goes (and which does in fact have a green lever on it) was missing. Having located that, put the new staple cartridge in it and reinstalled the whole works in the copier, everybody's happy. Not least the people who wanted to print and staple things. I personally am happy because the opposable thumbs win, again.

I seem to have given up my Shipping Whisperer status, which I used to have because I was the office FedEx goddess. When I recycled my old laptop, the recyclers sent me shipping materials and a return label. Now that I'm recycling my REALLY old laptop, they sent me a link to a shipping label and I'm apparently responsible for the shipping materials myself. I wonder if that's because the old laptop was worth something in exchange and the REALLY old one isn't, or if it's a "first hit's free" situation? I don't particularly care either way since the object of the game is to get the old laptops out of my office, and after this I don't have any more old laptops.
