May. 10th, 2012 01:42 pmSo, jury duty. I ended up on a jury this time, and although it was an interesting process, it would have been less aggravating if it had been more expeditious. Before lunch yesterday we were told that a jury would be needed, anywhere from five minutes to half an hour from then. An hour later, nothing had happened, and they told us to go to lunch. Half an hour after lunch, they started jury selection. That took a little while (since it took about seven tries to come up with juror #3), and then the trial started. We got through all the witnesses, and both sides rested, and then the judge decided there wasn't time for closing arguments, so we'd have to come back in the morning. If they'd started jury selection when they originally said they would, it would've been a one-day trial. (And they really need some better chairs in the room they stick you in for seven or so hours.)
Oh well, civic duty done, at least until the next election. (Which is in six months, and I'm already tired of hearing about it. I wish there was a way to register displeasure with the length of political campaigns. Not voting ain't it.)
