(no subject)

Two weeks ago we had P&R. Last week we had three huge projects that all had to get finished, and I had jury duty. This week I was supposed to go to the dentist, but I rescheduled that for July. By which time I hope I won't have so many huge things going on at work.

Last night I was looking for something or other and didn't find whatever it was, but I did find a book I bought before my vacation in April. I had intended to read it that week, but then I borrowed the Hunger Games books and read those, and after that I got distracted, and the upshot is that not only did I not read that book, but I completely forgot I had bought it. I think that's the first time I've ever done that.

Lily has taken to sleeping in the large cat carrier overnight. She had been sleeping at the head of the bed right next to the pillows, but I washed the sheets on Sunday. I guess that made them unfit to sleep on. (I myself, however, am still fit to sleep on. If I'm sitting in the living room, I pretty much have to start standing up before Lily will get out of my lap.)

Since leeks go with anything smoked, bacon and leek risotto is really quite good. I stole the idea from Smitten Kitchen, but subtracted the cheese because I forgot it, and the runny egg because runny eggs give me the cold robbies. Quiche with leeks and smoked cheddar is good stuff too, and the risotto was almost quiche until I decided I didn't feel like arguing with the oven. It was a good decision, though.

My brain, being the odd place it is, is now wondering about leek and bacon ice cream. I have no idea why, because I don't want to try it.
