Jul. 16th, 2012 12:19 pmI don't know who ordered HUMID, but I wish they hadn't. Hot is OK, but HUMID is just nasty. And hard to sleep through. And it makes it a lot easier to talk myself out of walking the 2.75 miles home, when I know it's going to be highly unpleasant to do it.
Humidity aside, it was a fairly successful weekend anyway. On Saturday I had a haircut and a pretty good voice lesson. Yesterday I spent most of the day in Falmouth with most of Mom's side of the family. I got sunburned from standing around on the deck at the house, but I also got to go swimming. There was almost no temperature difference between the air and the water at the beach; the only difference was how much water was in whatever location I also happened to be in.
Last week I got an email from the public affairs office (which changed its name a while ago, but nobody calls it by its new name), saying that BWH and CHB are suffering from a serious shortage of blood donations. So I signed myself up to go give blood on Thursday. I haven't tried to give blood since grad school, when I was turned down for lack of iron. We'll see how it goes on Thursday; if it does go, I get a free pint of JP Licks ice cream. (Just what I need, of course, but at least ice cream is cold and has protein in it. Right now the first of those qualities is the important one.)
Four more weeks until vacation. I suppose I should figure out what, if anything, I want to do with my vacation.
