How I Spent My 37th Birthday
Jul. 10th, 2012 06:29 pmFor the first time in ages, I decided to take my mid-week birthday off. I spent it doing (mostly) exactly what I wanted, to wit:
- Got up half an hour later than I would have if I'd been going to work
- Finally got a decent picture of my neighbor's cat, which has an interesting face
- Went out for breakfast
- Went to the Public Garden and had a swan boat ride
- Stuck my head in the Apple store and decided I didn't need a birthday present from there
- Stuck my head in Crate & Barrel, ditto (although I almost bought a cherry pitter)
- Went to JP Licks and had a milkshake for lunch, because it was my birthday
- Came home and finished reading the book I was in the middle of
- Went out again to try to sell the clarinet I haven't played in about 18 years (they said come back on Saturday; not sure I'm going to bother)
- Went to Whole Foods and bought dinner and a teeny little cheesecake for dessert
The upshot is, it's been a pleasant day and I spent a lot of it out doing things I felt like doing. (And eating things I probably shouldn't have eaten all on the same day, but I felt like indulging myself, so I did.) I call that a pretty darn good birthday.
