I realize this is a first-world problem and I shouldn't whine about it, but I hate the fact that bits of my kitchen are in every other room in my apartment. I don't WANT a butcher block shelf in my bedroom. And I forgot that the table came into the kitchen in pieces, and was surprised when it wouldn't go out through the door. Fortunately I did not forget that I own a socket set, so taking the legs off the table was merely an exercise in remembering which way left was.

The way things are supposed to work is like this: today, the plumber disconnects the stove. Tomorrow, the floor installers put in the new tiles and grout them. Saturday, the plumber comes back and reconnects the stove, and all the furniture goes back where it belongs. Sometime after the floor gets done, the washing machine gets reconnected. I really hope that's how it works.

I knew I wasn't going to have a stove tonight, so tonight there will be pizza. Tomorrow there will be leftover pizza. After that, either I have a stove again, or me and the microwave and the Trader Joe's frozen food section are going to become very well acquainted. (The Hairy Beasts are spoiled, but I don't cook for them. They're perfectly happy with cold canned cat food.)

Is it Saturday yet?
