dchenes: (katana)
There was quite a lot of Monday packed into yesterday. The new DMD students arrived so I spent a good chunk of the morning with them, and then I got two more new projects (thankfully these two have end dates), and THEN I got a phone call which I ignored because I didn't recognize the number. It turned out to be J, my friend and ex-boss in India, wanting to have coffee after work because she happened to be in Boston. So I did that after work (the first thing she said was "Where did the rest of you go?") and made extremely tentative plans to meet her in Sydney in March sometime.

Today started out rather literally on the wrong foot; I got stepped on, hard, by somebody getting off the bus. Then I walked into a lamppost because I was half thinking about the people ambling down the sidewalk at me and not getting out of the way, and half thinking about what was happening at work this morning, and not thinking at all about where the lamppost was. Fortunately my hand and not my face hit the post, so I only have a bruised knuckle. The little invisible man with the large invisible ice pick is back at my left ankle, besides. I think I should go back to bed and start over.

At least I managed to remember I have glee club rehearsal tonight and therefore brought the music with me this morning. And I managed to remember to take out the trash (which I should have done over the weekend). And Lily forgave me for kicking her in the ribs by accident yesterday morning. In my defense, I was half asleep at the time because the alarm hadn't gone off yet and I didn't know she was there when I stretched.

Over the weekend I took a lemon and basil shortbread recipe and made one batch of those and one batch of lemon and mint shortbread. The basil ones smelled better when they baked (what's not to love about lemon, basil and butter?), but I think I like the taste of the mint ones better. Both batches came out a bit tough, but I'm not trying to feed them to anybody but me, so I don't care quite as much as I would if they'd been for public consumption.
