Oct. 26th, 2015 04:56 pmIt's bloody freezing cold in this office. Before lunch I observed that my fingernails were turning blue. For some reason all the heat is on the first floor, so I have to go downstairs periodically to warm up. (There is, of course, nothing the maintenance guys can do about it. Either the computer in the main thermostat is dead, in which case they need a computer guy, or the heat just isn't getting here, in which case they need a plumber.)
However, it is now After The Retreat, so I can stop being so stressed. So far today I've caught up on my data entry (PD2 pre- and post-surveys, and last week's clinical observation session surveys) and sent out a plaintive appeal for the return of the retreat surveys, which are necessary in order to issue CE credit. I guess that means we got approved by the CE committee, even though the chair thereof is in China until next week. (Isn't technology wonderful? Except when it isn't, for instance the computerized heat in this building...)
The extra day off this weekend was just what the doctor ordered, as it were. Last night I realized that no, I wasn't actually unhappy about the idea of going to work in the morning. I was mostly unhappy about the fact that going to work in the morning meant I had to get up before I really want to. And I did make home vet appointments for the Hairy Beasts, so that's off my conscience if not off my wallet.
(Several hours later; somebody asked me to do them a favor and it took me longer to do than I thought)
Must remember to go buy apples on the way home. Apparently you shouldn't eat apples; too much sugar and if not organic, pesticides. But I like them, so I'm going to keep right on eating them, so there. And I'm going to keep eating mushroom stroganoff-like stuff, too. But not today, because this week is gourmet mac and cheese week in the cafeteria and hot food is important when your fingernails are turning blue at your desk. So I had a fairly massive amount of mac and cheese for lunch. But I can't do that again this week.
