Oct. 27th, 2015 02:18 pmNot quite so bloody freezing cold in here today. I wonder whether yesterday being Monday and nobody being in the office all weekend had anything to do with it? Tomorrow it's supposed to pour in the afternoon and Thursday it's supposed to be 70. I guess then we'll find out whether the heat is really on or not.
The colder weather (can't call it "cold" yet, this is New England) has made me hunt up some gloves. In the process of which I could only find one of the leather mittens I know I had two of last winter. Time to excavate that drawer again. There's always too much stuff in it, because it's the scarves/leggings/stockings/bathing suits/hats/gloves drawer.
And now for something completely different: today I had lunch with a former coworker, who got to OFA right before I left, but had been one of my hospital department contacts before joining the dark side. As usual when I go to lunch with any former coworker from the dark side, she spent most of the time complaining at me about it. I think my former coworkers do that because they know I know what they're complaining about, and I mostly sympathize. And I am so glad I don't work in that meat grinder these days (because that's what it is, when you get down to it).
The problem with going to lunch early is it makes the afternoon longer. I've had all the Fun With Retreat Results I can stand, which means I've finished the task I was doing with them. I've taken six or so pieces of very large paper with post-its for course content stuck all over them and turned them into six different lists. I think the next thing is to distribute the lists and get people to decide if that's really what they want, or if they were just blowing smoke (which was fine too, because sometimes you do something offhand and somebody else thinks it's a brilliant idea). It looks like the content from the course that's going away in the new curriculum has found homes elsewhere, hooray.
A leopard-print skirt and cat ear headband counts as a Halloween costume, right?
