dchenes: (katana)
How to give your human a heart attack, Orange Cat version: escape into the front stairwell, unnoticed, and then don't say anything until your human has looked in every hiding spot she can think of, twice. Then meow a little until she figures out which door to open, and then prance in like it's no big deal and when's dinner?

I did not enjoy the "If she hid somewhere to die, what the hell do I do with a dead cat, when I find the corpse, until the vet's office opens in the morning?" train of thought. I suppose maybe I should ask the vet the next time I see him.

It seemed like a good evening to spend a large chunk of in a hot bath, so I did that. I finished Ardennes 1944, and started Caliban's War (which I bought this weekend on the strength of a reassurance that it isn't as gruesome as Leviathan Wakes). Next up after Caliban's War, The Three-Body Problem, which I want to read because (a) it's a translation, (b) it's a translation from Chinese, and (c) it's Chinese science fiction, which I have no prior experience with whatsoever.

Kindle-wise, I've downloaded a lot of Kipling, a lot of Sherlock Holmes, The Chronicles of Master Li and Number Ten Ox (one of my stranded-on-desert-island books), and Frankenstein. Frankenstein has been on my "I really should get around to reading this someday" list for several years now, so I'm getting around to it.

Voted for Bernie in the primary, because primaries are where I vote for the person I want. In general elections, I usually end up voting against the person I don't want, because the person I want doesn't usually make it past the primaries. I don't think we need a Clinton dynasty any more than we needed a Bush dynasty. But if it's a choice between Hillary and any Republican, Hillary it is.

Apparently we're in a "rain on Wednesdays" weather pattern. So I go to chorus rehearsal and get rained on. I hope this doesn't turn into one of those springs where it rains for three weeks, takes a break for a week and then rains for another three weeks. We could use some rain, but not that much.
