Today I seem to be out of sorts. The job situation sucks and I'm tired of financial gymnastics. I can pay next month's rent, but I'm utterly screwed for September unless I get steady work or work that pays well enough, before August. I sent off the e-mail I needed to send off, and now I'm waiting for the mail which, I hope, will have the enormous credit card bill in it, so I'll know exactly how bad it got. Then I can figure out how much of it I can afford to pay. I've paid off all the outstanding Ohio bills, so everything I get now is for the apartment I'm currently living in. I want my $86 from Time Warner Cable, although I'll be surprised if I ever see it. I'd also like my security deposit back from Dartmouth Place, but I won't get that until I send the keys back. If I send the keys back early, they consider that I've broken my lease, and I'll owe them for that. So I send the keys back at the end of next month and wait around for whatever they decide to send me back. They'll probably take some off for my not having washed out the fridge (which leaks) and not having vacuumed the living room carpet (which needed replacing anyway, due to it looking fairly tired when I moved in to begin with). There was no major damage, though.

On the up side, the cross-breeze through my apartment is very nice. I would've left the shutters open last night if I hadn't wanted less light in the bedroom. Even when it's miserable hot out, it's fairly nice in here. I wonder, though, whether the patio door in my kitchen is going to leak cold air in the winter. It's not like I don't have enough old quilts and such to deal with it if it does, at least.

Speaking of housing, can anyone think of a good reason why my housewarming shouldn't be on Saturday, August 6?

If you see your keys back early and have paid the rent through the term of the lease, you are not breaking the lease unless they're being REALLY fussy and weird. However, even if you send your keys back early, there's no reason for them to send the security deposit back to you until 30 days after the lease is up.

Sat. Aug 6th sounds great to me - I'm not scheduled to work, which makes it much easier to attend.

There might be some people who are in Glasgow at WorldCon, but I don't know how many
