I did absolutely nothing productive today, except for two loads of laundry. I really must remember to tell the landlord that the light in the washing machine area doesn't work any more, and that it isn't because the bulb is burned out. That got interesting, because I swear I had a flashlight once, but I can't find it. I resorted to making two separate trips into the basement with a pillar candle so I could see the dial on the dryer.

Now that I have a vase, I can buy flowers. Hooray!

Tomorrow, I have to rattle the temp agency's cage, and depending on the answers I get, I'm going to call another temp agency. The problem with being registered with several temp agencies is the Word and Excel and typing tests every agency gives you. They're boring, and I know what they're going to say before I even take the tests in the first place (yes, I can make Word stand on its head and spit nickels; yes, I know one end of Excel from the other; and I can type between 50 and 55 wpm with no errors on an ancient, loud and slow keyboard I've never used before).

I think the current temp agency is convinced that I'm going to end up getting the job I interviewed for two weeks ago, if Tufts ever gets around to calling the prospective employer back and giving me a reference, and therefore the temp agency isn't sending my resume to any other prospects. Which would be fine if I knew that was what was going on, but I don't, so it bothers me. I may end up telling them to forget Tufts and giving them another grad-school reference instead, although that doesn't prove anything about my work history. Sigh.

Oh well, at least now I have clean laundry, and there are worse things to have.

At this point, you're better off giving them another reference and just telling them, "Here's another one, as I understand Tufts hasn't gotten back to you." This may be a blessing in disguise.

What kind of flowers would you buy?

I personally like carnations. Even though they are stigmatized as being for funerals or something, or like, oh LOOK who cant afford roses. But I love them, they are intricate, simple, long lasting and pretty.

So whenever you put in Carnations, think of me.

Actually, I don't particularly like carnations, although the white ones with red edges are OK. I tend to buy lilies (red ones if I can get them), or things that last a while (like lisianthus or alstromeria), or gladiolas. Sometimes it doesn't matter what it is as long as it's whatever color I'm in the mood for.

The short answer is, it depends on the day.
