really disorganized thoughts

dchenesIs it me, or is it even harder than usual to get out of bed in the morning when it's this cold out?
I knew work was going to be a bit frantic today, but I didn't know it was going to be this frantic. I walked into the office and hadn't even taken my coat off yet when Dr. H started asking me about things that came up yesterday and whether I'd done anything about them yet. There are certain students and faculty members who do that; they don't even bother with "Good morning" before they tell me what they want, and they have to do it as soon as I appear in the office.
I think I'm finally caught up with yesterday/this morning. Now all I have to do is find out who walked off with my 3-hole punch and hit them over the head with it when I find them. It's very hard to file things in binders without the hole punch.
Completely different subject: I have a digital camera now. I got talked into a Canon PowerShot S30 instead of an Olympus D550. Apparently everybody got the Olympus for Xmas, because they're out of stock everywhere I looked. Anyway, I bought the Canon, and started playing with it a little last night. So far, I like it. I haven't hooked it up to my computer yet, because I haven't taken any worthwhile pictures with it, but I'm impressed with what I've taken. Whee! (insert New Toy Dance here).
Speaking of new toys, it's amazing how much easier it is to use a trackball that isn't full of gunk.
Any time off I have has become somewhat unreal. I get to a weekend and find it shocking that I don't have to go to work, and yet it isn't really time off because I have a whole list of other things to do. Christmas snuck up on me, and Arisia has snuck up on me, and I keep forgetting I've got Monday off. It's hard to function anywhere when you feel dislocated like that.
My father is making us a kitchen table. I have to figure out how to get it up here.
I need a secretary, or a spare brain, or I need to be able to be in several places at once.
