Jan. 22nd, 2003 10:40 amI'm sure this is news to nobody, but it's cold out. I finally remembered to get my SmartWool socks out of the dryer last night, which was a good idea.
My overwhelming reaction to work these days is "I don't care; if you want it so much, do it yourself", which is making it very hard to get anything done. The problem with that is that there are all these administrative paperwork projects that have to be done yesterday, and I just don't care.
I've decided what I'm rewriting my writing sample about. It's going to be about some of the various times in my life when I knew things had changed drastically. For instance, when I was allowed to go to the beach on vacation and spend all day down there alone if I wanted to, and when I went off to college and realized that there was no such thing as "go see what's in the fridge if you're thirsty" in a dorm room, and when I entered the post-college division of life and started buying green vegetables and caring when was the last time the bathtub got washed.
I wish getting out of the rut I seem to be in didn't involve money. I'm tired of money. I'm tired of not having any, and I'm tired of saving it so that when I've got some, I can give most of it to other people. Barter economy, anyone?

Date: 2003-01-22 08:03 am (UTC)I talked to my German friend this morning, and she's feeling like she's in a big rut too. What is it--a stage women our age have to go through?
Idea for new work...
Date: 2003-01-23 10:33 am (UTC)Want to start a web hosting company?
We'll specialize in hosting small web sites for starving French artists on a budget.
Or we could sell your services as a translator online. "Translate any essay into French for only $xx.xx a page!" You could be the goddess of French Term papers.
We could use Paypal to take the cash, and I can host the web site...
And it it take off we could talk Jill into providing the Spanish translations!
It wouldn't take too much of a time or money investment to get started, and if we can enlist Hillary to do some graphics for the site it will look cool too.
