This morning I was lying in bed minding my own business and trying to finish an interesting dream, and the radio came on and said "3 degrees in Boston", and I said "Why am I getting out of bed, again?"

But I got out of bed, and got dressed in more layers than I care to think about, and did the morning grooming stuff, and went to catch the train. Which showed up late, of course. It was supposed to run express from Brighton Ave. to BU Central, but it got to BU West and decided it was "disabled" and kicked everybody off. The train behind it had been picking up the people at the stops we skipped, so it was already a sardine act. So I stood around until the train after that showed up, and got on that one. By the time I got to work, my hands were freezing, and this in spite of my big heavy insulated gloves.

I wish my body would make up its mind. Yesterday it decided that my ears were going to freeze, so today I wrapped up my head in a scarf and my ears were fine, but my hands froze. If I wrap up my ears and somehow keep my hands warm, my feet will freeze. This is why I hate winter; there's no way to be outside and keep all of me warm, and once I get cold, it takes me hours or a hot bath before I warm up.

On a happier note, though, I made carrot muffins last night, and they're quite good. It's impossible to buy a 1-pound bag of regular carrots any more, so I had to buy a 3-pound bag, and I know perfectly well I can't eat that many carrots before they start becoming one with the fridge, so I made carrot muffins. I made a double batch, which came out to 30 muffins, and sent several home with Liz. Good thing they freeze well.

My writing sample is rewritten, but it needs another couple of drafts and consultations with the dictionary. Progress, I suppose, has been made. This whole grad school idea still scares me, though.

Is my vanilla life really worth all this rambling on? Should I just shut up until something worth writing about happens? Is anybody actually reading this?

Yes, people are reading. I don't see much of you, so this is the main way I have to get keep in touch.

I'd wondered where that bag of muffins came from.

I didn't have one yet, as I didn't know if they had been set aside for something.
