recording, singing and bathing
Nov. 19th, 2005 08:16 pmI figured out what my VCR's problem was. It wasn't actually the VCR, it was the fact that I seem to have sat on the remote (or did something equally brilliant), and switched it from turning the TV off to turning the cable box off. So the VCR was dutifully recording what came through the cable box, which was nothing.
I spent the Messiah rehearsal today sitting directly in front of the bass section. Specifically, in front of a bass with an Asian accent of some stripe or other, who sings in one of two keys: flat or sharp. Hearing the Messiah in an Asian accent is distinctly odd, and I think that's most of why he's having tone problems. He can't not sing vowels through his nose.
As much as I appreciate the thought, I think the back massages we did as part of warming up for rehearsal did me more harm than good. The Knot under my right shoulder blade woke up and is complaining about being poked at. Now I really wish I had enough hot water to take a bath in. Unfortunately I only ever have enough to fill up the tub halfway when I'm in it, which is considerably less than halfway in general. Starting with an ice-cold tub doesn't help either, but I never remember to heat up water on the stove and pour it down the length of the tub first.
