Today is my 90th day of employment. In celebration thereof, there appears to be pie.

Today was also the day of my eye doctor appointment. I was right, my prescription has changed in both eyes. That was the easy part. I had said I had been seeing flashes in my left eye, and the doctor walked me across the room to have the retina specialists look at me. Lo and behold, my right retina had a small hole in it, and they lasered it, and I'm sitting at work in my sunglasses (and taking more flak for working in my sunglasses than I am for coming in an hour later than I said I would, and thereby causing the staff meeting to be put off until Monday or so).

So it's been an interesting morning, but at least there's pie. And I have to get on the phone with my doctor's office, because I need a retroactive referral for the eye surgery because they did it as an emergency procedure.

I would say it was naptime if I didn't have a list of stuff to get through, and if I hadn't gotten to work at 11:30 in the first place.

Yow. That was fast. I'm surprised you can work - didn't they dilate you up the wazoo?

They did, but after a while it doesn't bother me. I can see fine; I just freak people out if I don't wear sunglasses.

Wow. It makes me unable to read paper print at all, and computers with a bit of difficulty. Ow.

It is, of course, all sorts of fun when I've taken out my lenses and they've dilated my eyes to look for holes, and they find one, and THEN (while I'm still blind as a bat) I have to sign consent forms for the surgery...I did notice that the form was in fairly large print. :)

Yikes and congrats in the same breath. Hope you are alright. Is this sort of hole-in-the-retina problem reoccuring something that needs to be looked at. If I remember correctly, holes in your retina aren't all that commonplace. Should you maybe have the eye doctor re-consider the type of contacts you are using. Or something. I guess I'm just worried for you.

Are you planning to go to Sebastian_tombs' game thing tomorrow? I can't really offer a ride since we are going to be in Saugus volunteering earier that afternoon and will be coming directly from Saugus. But I know that there are other folks, like Quezz, who are planning to go that would be happy to give you a lift. On the other hand, I know you had a bunch of chores etc to do. And I know that I hate it when that stuff piles up on me as well.

Congrats on your official 90 days. Now you can breath a little easier. And start concentrating on that paper you plan to present soon! Go you!

Sadly, type of contacts have nothing to do with it, with the retina being at the back of the eye. But yeah, she should have an evaluation (I'm assuming this was done pre-lasering anyhow) to figure out what's going on. Me, I know I have a degenerative condition, and am watched by a retinologist I've been going to since I was a kid. Sometimes there's not a lot you can do.

It's something to keep in mind (I am *not* going to say "keep an eye on"), but if I don't have any symptoms, it isn't anything to be concerned about. They think it's just because of the way my retinas are constructed; it has nothing to do with my contacts.

I'm not going gaming tomorrow; I'm going to sit down with J and figure out what to do with my retirement fund from the dental school, and then I'm going to have a cleaning fit.

yikes! on the eye thing.

I need to go to the eye doctor soon too, but I haven't found a place to go yet. Today if I get a chance, or tomorrow, I'll make a few calls...
