I get to go on an odyssey tonight, due to the fact that UPS apparently doesn't mean it when they say you can sign the delivery attempt post-it and they'll leave the package for you next time. I signed the first one, and stuck it back on the door, and they left me another post-it and no package. So I signed the second one, wrote PLEASE LEAVE PACKAGE on the front of it, and they left me a "we're not going to try to deliver this any more" post-it and no package. Tonight I have to go off to the UPS depot in South Boston to go get my contact lenses. As far as I can tell, all I have to do is get from work to South Station and get on the #7 bus. I hope it's that easy. I'd like to regain the ability to read street signs from across the street, in any case. I wonder if there's a way to tell the place I ordered lenses from that the postal service is really a better idea? (They leave me delivery notices too, but at least they don't expect me to be home in the middle of the day.)

An afterthought: Silly me, of course I have to go get my own package. After all, it's the United Parcel Service, not the United Delivery Service.

Just because life is like that, this morning I got email from FedEx, saying that my corset was shipped yesterday. It's supposed to show up on Saturday, and I really hope it does, because I don't want to have to go on another odyssey for FedEx.

FYI, I found that you can call UPS (and FedEx) and tell them that you always want them to leave packages for you, never require signatures. They'll at least claim to note that in the system along with your name and address. It seems to work....

Unlike UPS, FedEx does not suck. UPS sucks. I experienced that this week as well. *HUG*
