Today I managed to buy almost everything except new pants, and am now sorry for it, because I ripped the inseam right out of my favorite jeans tonight in the process of sitting down in a car.

I did, however, buy the new No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency book, and three (count 'em!) new pairs of shoes: leather ballet-slipper sort of things with loud flowers on them (replacements for the dead slingbacks), sandals that are almost entirely elastic and therefore insanely comfortable (ditto), and an absolute and utter impulse buy so silly that whuffle had to buy a pair too. (They're mid-calf black Converse knock-offs with a very large Chinese dragon embroidered down the outside of each foot, and zippers so you can lace them up such that they fit properly all over and then leave them that way. If I could find a picture, I'd post it.) I don't know what came over me; I buy shoes because I need new ones, not because I like owning them. The dragon sneakers are the first shoes I've ever bought just because I couldn't leave them there.

Tomorrow, I absolutely must go buy at least one new pair of pants.

I got Blue Shoes and Happiness from the library at 12:05 and had it read by 4. It's good, but wants a reread.
