I keep thinking it's Monday, except it isn't. Monday was the day I spent doing a couple of useful things, with a whole lot of not much in between. I re-read most of a book, and sat around on the fire escape absorbing sunshine, and discovered that one of my tomato plants has more or less come back from the dead and is putting out teeny little new leaves. I utterly failed to do laundry or cook anything for the week, although when I get home tonight, I'm going to make egg and lemon soup now that I have scallions to put in it.

My to-do list is being stymied slightly by the fact that several people I need to talk to have taken the short week as a vacation week. I half wish I had thought of that, but I don't have quite enough vacation time accrued yet (and besides, I have this huge mahonkin' list to take care of). By August, when I want to go on vacation, I'll have a week and a bit over.

Random thoughts:

X3 was pretty good for a summer movie, but I should have watched X2 again first.

I'm all in favor of parades, as long as I know they're going to happen and/or I can operate around them. The parade I ran into in Davis Square on Sunday was fun, even. It had (in no particular order) a very amusing miniscule marching band, and three or four sets of people marching around with bagpipes, and four horses, and an entire legion of Shriners, and musketeers firing blanks. Damn, those things are loud.

Since I opened the windows on Saturday, I'm getting re-acclimated to the buses on Centre St and the neighbors setting off firecrackers and the other neighbors who seemed to be doing something involving African drumming all day yesterday and the fact that people smoke on the sidewalk and it drifts in through the open windows.

Off to conquer Troy. Or something.

Make it tomorrow, then; the weather forecast says maybe thunderstorms Thursday.

I've got my walking shoes on. Where shall we meet after work?

Providing nothing blows up at me, I can get over to Harvard Square sometime in the 5:30 - 6:00 range. How about in front of the statue of whatsisname in the quad? (Is that John Harvard or am I confusing him with the restaurant?)

In theory, that is John Harvard. Except that everyone knows that there are no existing paintings that have been verified as being him and the statue was pulled out of mothballs some years ago from some warehouse so they know it isn't actually him.

Right. Yes, I have my cell phone. Call me when you are nearing the area and I'll meet you at the statue.
