Apologies to [livejournal.com profile] skreeky and [livejournal.com profile] happyfunpaul, but I couldn't get my act together enough to haul my carcass anywhere social this past weekend.

So what did I do this weekend?

On Friday night I played a quick-start game of Civ III all the way through. It took me until 2:00 Saturday morning, but now at least I know that I don't particularly like playing as the Romans.

On Saturday I got up eventually, showered, breakfasted, decided that it was too nice out to be indoors, and went off for a ramble. I was going to see how close to Harvard Square I could get walking, but I chickened out at Brighton Ave. because my foot had started to hurt. So I walked down the block and stuck my head in the Boston Bed Company to look at futon frames (my parents have agreed to buy me one for my birthday, so I'll have a functional sofa again). After that I walked back to Harvard Ave and got on the bus and went to Schoenhof's, and bought a sandwich because I was hungry, and came home again and did mostly nothing for the rest of the day except remember that I needed to pick up a prescription on Sunday.

So on Sunday I went off to pick up the prescription, and while I was in Coolidge Corner anyway, I stuck my head in Brookline Booksmith and walked out with a new book. Then I went to JP Licks (shame on me), and went and parked myself on a bench outside the Devotion School playground for a while with book and ice cream. When I ran out of ice cream, I went to Trader Joe's, and then came home again and spent the rest of the day alternating between reading the book and thinking about how I would rearrange my living room if I really wanted to get the random stuff off all the horizontal surfaces (including the floor).

So today I'm at work, which is necessary because the SOP meeting is next week and I have to get things copied. It is not, however, where I'd really like to be today.

Sounds like a really good veg weekend. Glad to hear it.

BTW, want to come to the July 4 BBQ at our place? I'll drive you if you want! Just tell me whether you'd like a lift from your place or from somewhere between our two places. I'd be really good to see you. I really enjoyed the dinner we had last week and think we should do it again soon (maybe with a weekend and late-night a game of Civ involved.)

Oh, and in terms of futon frames, while you probably have thought of this already, might I suggest a sturdy metal frame this time. Might not be as pretty as the wood ones but from what I've seen of the connectors and joints they typically use, it will certainly be more functional. And hey, if you find ones that are sized right, you can get those boxes on wheels to put under the frame for storing stufflike your stitching that would do best stored flat.

My parents would like the metal frame idea too; metal frames are cheaper.

Yes, I'd like to come to your place tomorrow, but I can't figure out what I'm going to bring.

Sorry you couldn't make it on Sunday, but thanks for thinking of us! Hope to see you again soon.
