If I had been outdoors lately, I'm sure I would be observing that it's hot. However, since I haven't, I'm not.

What I am doing is minding the phone, realizing I can't send out the governing boards docket yet (as much as I'd like to), catching up with paperwork, re-shuffling committees and eating cherries. I had to resort to high-octane coffee with lunch because I had been dragging myself around by the scruff of the neck all morning, and not getting anything useful done. I didn't get quite enough sleep last night, even though I did actually sleep (not bad for an un-air-conditioned apartment, hmm?).

I really hate the whole student loan refinancing thing. I didn't do it, for which I'm kicking myself because I'm now paying 8% interest on the undergrad loan, which means the payments went up by $20 per month. If the other one goes up that much, I'll be paying $410 per month in loans, on top of rent and utilities and all that other stuff. However, student loan refinancing companies are as bad if not worse than credit card companies for sending me junk mail. Apparently they're also as bad as credit card companies for susceptibility to identity theft; Nelnet got nailed the other day and they're one of the ones that sent me the most mail. What it all boils down to is, I would be delighted to refinance my student loans, if somebody could point me at a reputable company that doesn't flood my snail mail with junk. (I know, I want something that doesn't exist. While I'm at it, I also want $80K, after taxes, to pay off my debt with.)

Sometimes this "responsible adult" thing is a pain, isn't it?

I consolidated my loans through Sallie Mae and I've been quite happy with them.
