thoughts thought on a Thursday

I love it when I fix something and it just WORKS afterward. Usually when I'm fixing something, I'm making it less broken, but it's still broken. For instance, my microwave power supply solution, which works, but is fairly ugly: plug to cube tap to extension cord to wall outlet. I want to be able to plug the microwave cord directly into the wall, but the space available won't let me.
Today I found the solution to the MS Picture Manager problem I was having, whereby it took 30 seconds to open every time I opened a jpeg file. The solution had to do with a file buried in the OIS folder, in the Microsoft folder, in the Application Settings folder, in the Local Settings folder, which was set as hidden. Anyway, I fixed it, and Picture Manager works like it used to, and I feel a lot better. (Just you try working on 45 or so jpeg files when the program takes 30 seconds to open each, and see how fast you get frustrated.)
And now for something completely different...
The web-based phone directory for HMS is called the White Pages. As of yesterday, the web pages changed color. They used to be white, and now they're cream-colored. It's just wrong to look somebody up in the White Pages and have the resulting page not be white. (Because I said so, that's why.)
For some reason I spent most of this morning convinced it was Wednesday. Nice of it to be Thursday instead, particularly since we're closing the office at noon tomorrow for the holiday party, which is not being held in the office.
