Next time I have a day off, I'm taking the day off. Yesterday was nice, but it wasn't hardly restful at all.

I got up at the usual time and left home at 8:15, because I had said I was going to pick up the car at 9:00 and I didn't know if it was going to be one of those "sorry, you're 15 minutes late so we gave the car to somebody else" situations. It wasn't, which is good because the T hung me up rather severely. By the time I actually got on the road, it was 9:30. (Good strategic move on my part: I went to the Enterprise on Comm Ave, so drove down a couple of blocks and around the loop and there was Storrow Drive, hooray.) I got to NH later than I meant, but only by about half an hour, which is how long the T delayed me.

I am now an expert at missing the exit I actually wanted, taking the next exit, turning around and going back the other way and figuring out how to get to point A from point C on the way to point B. I nearly missed the onramp for 93 North, missed the exit for 95 South, went the wrong way where NH 101A turns into 101 (twice; I missed that one on the way home too), and drove past the turn I was supposed to make off 101 in Dublin four times (twice in each direction. In my defense, there was heavy fog, and I could never see the turn until I was past it). So there you have it; I cannot navigate, but at least I can get myself back to where I was supposed to have gone in the first place.

I do not like driving on rural highways in fog. I very much do not like driving on unlit rural highways at dusk in fog. It probably wasn't as bad as I thought, but if I had it to do over, I would let somebody who likes that sort of thing do it instead.

Having been held up by the weather, my lack of navigational skills and the fact that some brilliant logistician took 93 South down to one lane at Sullivan Square, I got home at 11:00. Around Sullivan Square I said "screw it, the car can go back tomorrow morning", and stayed on 93 until it got to Roxbury. When I got home I finally got around to checking my voicemail (I don't answer the phone while I'm driving) and discovered that the reason my cable modem was out was due to the Dish Network idiot who came to work on my landlady's connection and cut the Comcast cables instead. Upon calling Comcast, they said that they can send somebody out to fix it on Wednesday night, but it's going to cost me $50 if there's anything to fix. There are several things not right with that statement if you ask me.

I'm not compos mentis enough to do much of anything today, which is of course why I'm spending the day writing letters that Must Be Flawless before they get sent.

Damn. And here I thought I'd taken all the coffee weasels out to New York with me in my bag and "released them into the wild".....

Wanna trade letter editing and writing for my web design and HTML project?

But what happened in between?
