If I'm not careful about it, I might end up with an apartment that's completely unpacked. (I still won't have enough chairs to have a party, but at least I'll be able to have people over without being horribly embarrassed.) I went out today and got a bookshelf for the living room, so now I have one in my office and one in my living room, and I've been switching things back and forth between them. I'm not sure I don't actually want the living room bookshelf in the office and vice versa, but that can wait. The living room needs a rug, too, but that's got to wait until October, when I can pick up the rug I'm inheriting from somebody else.

It was perhaps not the brightest idea I've ever had to get a 4-foot bookshelf home on the T (disassembled) and then have to haul it home from there. My shoulders are less than entirely pleased with me. Lily is also less than entirely pleased with me, because of the hammering when I put the bookshelf together and the blendering when I finished putting the soup together. Yesterday she ate from my hand; today I can't get within six feet of her. (She'll get within a foot of me as long as it's her idea and as long as I don't acknowledge her or try to touch her.)

Ow. Time to go find the Advil.
