I have been trying, all morning, not to be annoyed.

Two SOP reviewers we've had lined up since July have acquired previous commitments for final meetings. One meeting is tomorrow and the other is on Monday. I've been turned down by 7 possible replacement reviewers for the meeting tomorrow and I'm down to the last two possibles, who won't respond to email or phone calls.

The materials for the meeting on Monday should have been mailed this past Monday, but I haven't gotten them back from review yet (despite sending them there the instant I got back last week, and writing a note on them that said they had to be mailed on the 10th) and the committee members keep calling me to ask if they're coming.

The SOP meeting is in two weeks and the powers that be want the agenda and attendance confirmed instantly. I don't have any of the packets back from review yet, and they have to be sent to the printer this week to be mailed next Tuesday. The Martian Death Cold is going around the office and my boss has it and has been out all week. That does not keep her from asking me twice a day by email if we have a reviewer for tomorrow's meeting yet.

Tomorrow is Rosh Hashanah, which means I won't get anything done this week if I can't do it today, because the Jewish population of my office in particular and HMS in general won't be in tomorrow and/or Friday. This is going to make me look like an idiot, because I'm having to do everything at the last minute. I had all this stuff dealt with and set up and gorgeous before I went on vacation three weeks ago, just so I wouldn't have to rush around at the last minute.

I can't even rush around right now, because I'm waiting for things to come back from people who keep saying "I know you need this. I'll have it for you this afternoon/tomorrow/soon...". So I'm sitting here watching time pass and knowing that every hour I don't have this stuff back is going to make the rushing around at the last minute less fun.

I give up, I'm annoyed. In the state of mind I'm in, I might as well write to my ex-landlady, whose phone number I threw out, and ask her where's my security deposit she said she was going to mail by August 18?

When you write to the ex-landlady, make sure the note is sent with return recipt requested and ask Scirroco to notorize it. Basically make it look like if she doesn't cough it up the next thing she gets will be a letter from a lawyer. You have no reason to be nice. She said you get the deposit back. Stick it to her.
