Yesterday I was talking to my father on the phone and we ended up speculating about the market for, and appeal of, mouse-flavored cat treats. I got to laughing so hard I almost had to sit down on the sidewalk, because I had a sudden image of the ingredients list for mouse-flavored cat treats: Wheat, natural and artificial mouse flavors, etc.... The idea that somebody would actually go to the trouble of developing an artificial mouse flavor struck me as hilarious. (I bet it wouldn't taste anything like the genuine article, either.)

The original Medieval food that went on to be come Turducken included a boar, a chicken, a pheasant and a mouse in the dead center...

I don't know what other animals were involved.

My point is there's a precedent for human tasters of such things.
