It's hot, again. I walked up a block and over a block to get lunch, and by the time I got back, I was glad I didn't have to be outside any more. It's that hot.

I'm suffering from a major case of computer envy again. I have to keep reminding myself NO COMPUTER until after the student loan is paid off (in September, which means the new computer might happen somewhere around January.) There's hope for my current computer becoming USB-capable, which would be nifty. Then all I'd need is a bigger hard drive, and a new printer, and, and, and...I really do need a new printer, though. My current one is (a) ancient and (b) no longer functional.

I hope we get a really phenomenal thunderstorm tonight. If the temperature's going to drop 20 degrees between today and tomorrow, I can't see how we won't get a thunderstorm. I love thunderstorms, unless they're loud enough to wake me out of a sound sleep.

I tried to read Le Monde, which is a French newspaper, online, but it's got Javascript errors and the articles won't load. GRRR. I hate Javascript. I hated it worse when it crashed Netscape on a regular basis, but that was a different computer (thank goodness.)

Speaking of computers, I hate this whole copyright-protected-music flap. I can understand why the recording industry would be annoyed at people taking songs and putting them online for general consumption, but what about the rest of us, who might want to make a mix CD from things we've already bought?

Today's poem was going to be Carl Sandburg's "Prayers of Steel", but I seem to have forgotten how the middle goes. Shame on me. That being the case, here's some Wallace Tripp instead:

Some friend must now, perforce,
Go forth and bid my boy
To saddle me my wooden horse,
For I mean to conquer Troy.

I'm off to conquer my filing cabinet, the filing of which is getting out of control.
