catching up

Being on vacation next week is good. I just wish everybody else I need to wrap up loose ends with wasn't on vacation this week.

Speaking of loose ends, I have to make some more financial decisions soon. Once I get my credit card paid off next month (yay!), the money that isn't going to that (and isn't going to fuel oil yet) can either go to savings or to the student loan. I'm inclined to send it to the student loan so as to get out of my remaining debt faster, but every piece of financial advice I've ever heard says I should have at least a three-month cushion in savings. Sigh.

Unfortunately, with the end of the credit card debt in sight, I'm starting to pay attention to my chronic case of the I-wants. I want a new computer, and a new futon mattress, and a new cover for either the new or the old futon mattress. I don't NEED any of these things yet, but I want them. It's easy when I don't have any money; I can want things like mad, but I know I can't have them, so it's all academic anyway.

Completely unrelated to anything else, I've started finding grey hairs in my hairbrush on a regular basis. For some reason I find that odd. I'm used to having grey hairs on my head, and I don't really mind having them in my hairbrush, but I'm not used to having them there yet.

So I guess I'm catching up with work and finances, and age is catching up with me.

Hey, have you tried the new restaurant that went in near grasshopper? I think it was Burmese or something? Shall we consider that as a dinner possibility for this week?

Also, did I promise you our VHS copy of Mary Poppins or was that someone else? (Must remember to throw Cinnamon Peeler in my bag for you...)

I haven't tried the Burmese restaurant because I heard it puts cilantro in a lot of its dishes, and I've had my metal-filings-dipped-in-dish-soap quota for a while.

I think I said maybe about Mary Poppins; if somebody else wants it, give it to them instead. I'm slowly replacing my VHS collection with DVDs anyway.
