I went to the mall today looking for jeans, because I have one extant pair and one pair that doesn't fit quite right. I found the jeans I wanted (why does Sears only have one pair of size 14 short jeans at a time?), and it turns out they were on sale, so I got a $30 pair of jeans for $22.

Then I went to Macy's to look at sheets, and discovered they were having a sale on pillows, and I've needed new pillows for about a year now. So I got $40 worth of pillows for $21. I did not buy any sheets, because nobody acknowledges the existence of full-size beds these days. There were lots of twin sheets (dorms, y'know), and lots of queen-size and king-size sheets, but the only full-size sheets I saw in a price range and thread count I was interested in were a godawful mustard sort of color. I'm damned if I go buy a queen-size mattress just so I can find sheets.

Oh, and last Wednesday I bought a Moorish cookbook from the Brookline Booksmith sale table ($8), and now I've got to go to Watertown and get sumac and a couple of other spices I've never heard of before, because the cookbook is giving me Ideas. (Most of which consist of "wow, that sounds good, only where it says 'cilantro' , read 'parsley'.")

For sheets, look for SALES (edit) at The Company Store. It's a really good buy when you can get them for 55% off, and I find that 300 ct sheets last a really long time. I think we may be on our third pair--I prefer the sateen style, because it's soft and a little heavier all at the same time, but they have all sorts.

Great suggestion! I should be getting some extremely discounted sheets sometime late this week.
