rainy day randomness

dchenesIt seems that Lily's favorite human food in the entire universe to date is oatmeal cookies. She likes them so much that I have to eat them standing up; otherwise I have to chuck her out of my lap every five seconds. Thank goodness Snip doesn't like human food. It makes the restricted-diet dance a little less complicated. Now if I could only persuade Snip that she doesn't need to eat half of Lily's food in addition to her own...
Today would be a lovely day for hibernating, particularly because my feet still hurt. On the other hand, taking a Tuesday off means you still have to go to work for the next three days. Except next month, when Veterans' Day is a Tuesday and I have jury duty on Wednesday.
I'm debating what to do about Halloween. My neighborhood has historically been really popular with trick-or-treaters, but I'm of mixed opinions about how much of a pain it's going to be to deal with the cats and the doorbell for three hours or so. They hate the sound of the doorbell, because it's a buzzer instead of a bell. I don't like it either, but at least I don't try to hide under the rug every time it goes off (which would be very funny if it wasn't so pathetic). But most of the kids are really cute, and I approve of proper after-dinner trick-or-treating. It's just not the same if you do it in the middle of the afternoon.
Speaking of which, when do the clocks change again?
