new and different

The Great Workload Shift of Aught Nine got handed to us on Thursday, and it's absolutely huge. As of Monday, nobody's going to be doing the same thing they have been doing; I've been taken off the Subcommittee of Professors and handed the Council of Academic Deans instead. I can do that with my eyes shut, because I'm going from the 30-member SOP, the materials for which are a minimum of 8 chapters long, to the 9-member CAD, the materials for which are the first chapter of the SOP materials. Somebody's in for quite a shock when they find out how much work it is to get an SOP meeting put together every month.
The only thing about the CAD meetings is I have to take minutes every month, which I only did for the SOP meetings in emergencies. I know I can do that; I've done it for the June and July meetings already.
The only problem is that I had planned my India trip around the SOP schedule, and now I'm bound to the CAD schedule instead, so I'm going to have to rework the whole itinerary.
Also new and different, I've been trying to figure out whether my neighbor with the trombone is the same person as my neighbor with the trumpet. They sound like they're about the same distance away, but I can't tell if they're roommates, or if it's one person who switches between instruments.

Date: 2009-07-26 02:24 am (UTC)I was going through a basement box today while consolidating some things and throwing out others. In it I came across a stack of letters dating from college. I have letters from you when you were in France and letters from when I was working during the summers and didn't have net access. I also have letters from lots of other college folks. It was quite the blast from the past.
