After the KSU alumni lunch, I skipped out on the conference and went to the Titanic artifacts exhibit. I'm not sure how I feel about that. It's an event that deserves to be commemorated, and the exhibit is a snapshot of life in 1912, but I also think the wreck should have been left alone once found.

Of all the silly things to be impressed by, the one that really impressed me was the coal from the stokeholds. I'm used to thinking of coal in Christmas-stocking-size lumps. The ones in the exhibit were the size of my head, and apparently those were small ones. It had never occurred to me that boilers that size would burn coal that size.
