just Stuff
Dec. 21st, 2009 12:24 pmI shoveled us out two and a half times yesterday (including the two-foot plow berm at the edge of the driveable street), and today my back is sore in the "these muscles got used" kind of way, just enough to make Advil a good idea. At least the last round of shoveling was only an inch or so, because after the second round I decided I wasn't going to shovel again until it stopped snowing. And this year I know that I should zip up my jacket pockets before I get started so they don't get filled up with snow.
I'm rushing around identifying loose ends to tie up, because our office festive event is this afternoon and we've been given Wednesday afternoon off too. So tomorrow is the day for tying up of loose ends. (One of my non-work-related loose ends involves buying tickets for getting to Noank and back. I know when I'm traveling, but what I haven't decided yet is how.)
My timing and the 7:59 bus driver's timing have been just off enough for me to regularly miss the 7:59 bus by about 30 seconds for the last two or three weeks. In my case, it's usually because either I can't find the shirt I want to wear, or it takes me just a bit too long to put on coat and hat and gloves and find keys, or the Hairy Beasts are being excessively friendly, or it's trash day. In his case, it's usually that he decides to leave early, so he gets to my stop at 7:59 instead of starting from the end of the route at 7:59. The solution, I suppose, is to get the heck out the door earlier, but in the winter I don't wanna.
I should probably figure out what sort of useful I want to be while I don't have to go to work. I need to have a large cleaning fit, and I have one embroidery project to finish beading because it's been sitting around forEVER waiting for beads, and I want to make serious progress on the wedding present embroidery, and I want to mess around with a Shaker lemon pie recipe until I get a lemon pie I actually like. (Which is more playing around than being useful, but I haven't done nearly enough playing around lately.)
Ye gods, how did it get to be lunchtime already?

Date: 2009-12-21 05:42 pm (UTC)The lemon pie is one of those things you start the day before you want to bake it, so maybe after I get back is a better idea? Or I could go buy some more lemons and set them up for being ready to mess about with on Wednesday afternoon.
