On Friday, the Dean for Faculty Affairs (technically my great-grandboss) told me I was to give up senior promotions entirely as of this week. On Monday, the Assistant Dean (technically my grandboss) told me I would be giving them up by sometime in August. Yesterday, my boss told me I would be dealing with hers until mid-September. To the best of my knowledge, these three people haven't told each other that they've told me these things. Am I supposed to be listening to them by rank, or by timeline, or what?

So of course, last night I had a string of nightmares. Two coworkers and I were trying to get out of a building that was falling down around us. The coworkers in question were the person I'm supposed to be giving all my senior promotions stuff to, and the person I'm starting to work on junior promotions with. Not terribly subtle, my brain. (Well, not about this, anyway.)

The lasagna I made on Monday night came out OK but not stellar. I think I didn't use quite enough sauce. But it tastes like a lasagna, and that's what I was aiming at. Speaking of food, I am addicted to Smitten Kitchen. I have a list about as long as my arm of Stuff I Want To Try From There.

Back to the grind, I guess. I'm learning how to log junior promotions files. If I had been part of designing that database, I would have put things in a different order, but I'll learn to live with it. (I may never learn to like it, but that's beside the point.)

Can you email the great-grandboss, grandboss and boss with the conflicting dates they all have given you? It might be nice to let them *know* they're not on the same timeline...
