a longer Friday than strictly necessary

I didn't intend to be getting home at 7:00 tonight, but my 4:00 meeting didn't start until 4:30 and we didn't arrive at a stopping place until 6:00. I admit I would've been home slightly earlier had I not stopped at the Kelly's outpost that is now where Marty's used to be. But I wanted fried shrimp, damn it, and that was precisely what I got.

When I got home, the Hairy Beasts got to run up and down the front stairs for an hour, since the resident dog is elsewhere. (It also distracted them from wanting to share my fried shrimp. Ha ha.)

After dinner I made Smitten Kitchen succotash, only I left out the onion and substituted balsamic vinegar for sherry vinegar. I did do the whole "shell and cook fresh cranberry beans" thing, though. It's too bad all the spots come off when you cook cranberry beans.

Speaking of all the spots coming off, I really should have a small cleaning fit tomorrow. I have no idea what I'm going to do tomorrow, come to think of it. However, since it is excellent sleeping weather (finally), I think I'll sleep on it.
