Book #21: In the Company of the Courtesan
Today is the only day of the year when the Hairy Beasts get their dinner half an hour late by the clock, but think they're getting it half an hour early by the position of the sun and therefore haven't started reminding me yet. Their internal clocks will get reset tomorrow because they know they get dinner when I get home.
I'm not sure what it is I made for lunch for this week, but what's in it is ginger and garlic and garam masala and pepper and a very little curry powder, and a bag of defrosted mango chunks and a lot of cubed paneer, over basmati rice cooked with whole cumin seeds. I don't think this is a recipe I'd inflict on anybody else, but there's nothing in it that I don't like. Besides, it smells good and it used up the mango chunks and the paneer. And it's got protein in it, so it'll do for lunch.
Half of me wishes I'd had the energy to go out and do nothing in the fresh air today, and the other half is annoyed that I did nothing today even though there's stuff to be done. "Do this now because you won't feel like it tomorrow night either" wasn't working as a reason to do anything today. So the dirty laundry remains in the laundry basket, and the sheets remain unchanged. And I feel like a steamroller ran over me.
