This weekend I went down to Falmouth on Friday night, and stayed through Monday morning. A good time was had by all, pretty much (although I should probably not have gotten as much sun as I did).

Anyway, the "little house" in Falmouth is surrounded by mixed oak and cedar trees, most of which started as weeds in 1954 or so and some of which are now mostly dead or otherwise in the way. So my uncle had tagged a bunch of trees to be cut down, and on Saturday morning a tree service crew showed up. They were supposed to show up on Tuesday, but they'd had a cancellation so they wanted to start in on our trees. Apparently tree services usually use bucket lifts, but this crew had a guy who climbs trees and cuts them from there. So Mom and Dad and I spent the morning watching them cut down three and a half trees. (One double trunk, one single trunk and half of another double trunk.)

Sunday we were going to go out for breakfast, but we got there and got coffee and waited half an hour for no food to show up. Everybody else in the diner got food, so I guess our order got lost. So we came home and had breakfast instead, and hung around some, and Mom and I went swimming again, and we all hung around some more and consulted various maps regarding the best way to get to Boston from Falmouth, and generally merfed about. (Good thing my grandparents are in the "big house" next door, because we had to borrow a lot of scotch tape to keep one of the maps together.) Mom and I went back to the beach at low tide, and I found the complete lower jawbone of what I think was a bluefish. It had pretty fearsome teeth, whatever it was.

Yesterday we left Falmouth at 9:00ish and got to Boston at 10:15ish. Following which, Mom and Dad and I went down to the Public Garden and rode a swan boat. Then we went to lunch, which took so long to arrive I was afraid we were jinxed regarding restaurants. But the lunch did show up eventually, and was good. And since we decided to eat on the patio, we avoided the loud music they were playing indoors. We also pretty much avoided getting rained on while we were out doing all this stuff.

So, it was a good weekend, and the only thing wrong with it was that I forgot to send my parents home with my VCR. It'll get there someday, but I really wish I hadn't forgotten about it when it was convenient. Oh well. (Brain? What brain?)
