Rain is good; it makes the grass grow, and all like that there. What is not good is Mario's downspout, which lost a piece off the top. The water comes out of the corner of the gutter and heads straight for the ground. Unfortunately it doesn't hit the ground; it hits the bottom piece of the downspout, so it sounds like somebody's hammering on the downspout. Even closing the bedroom window doesn't help much. The missing piece of downspout is lying on the ground in Mario's side yard, and if I could borrow a ladder I'd fix it for him. The problem is that if I offer to fix it for him, he'll probably want to do it himself, and he shouldn't. He's a WWII vet, and I'd feel awful if he fell off the ladder.
