Snip's favorite puffball went missing for a couple of weeks, but now seems to be back again. She's very happy about this, because she can resume killing it and then carrying it around while bellowing at the top of her lungs about having killed it. The whole process is very cute, but I want to know how she can produce so much noise with her mouth full. Add it to the list of things I don't understand about this cat. (She managed to mail her second favorite puffball to New Hampshire last spring, by dropping it into a box of books which I took off to the post office without checking the contents. I got an email later saying "Did you mean to send me a puffball?", to which I replied "No, but apparently Snip did.")

The Great Breakfast Quest continues. This week it was Trader Joe's granola bars, which were pretty good at not making me hungry by 11:30 but also probably contain entirely too much sugar. On to the next thing, whatever that is. At least this weekend I have an extra day to come up with something.

This year my tax refund is entirely mad money, and isn't earmarked for anything. I think I'm finally going to let myself buy a sculpture I've been ogling on Etsy for ages.

Which sculpture? (Just curious...)
BTW, if you're willing to make breakfast, I've been finding that making breakfast pockets is very filling and easily portable. I've been doing knish fillings but you can also fill them with scrambled eggs and cheese and sausage or with fruit....

The sculpture I bought isn't there any more, but I bought it from Copper Forest Studios (http://www.etsy.com/shop/copperforest). It's the only bonsai I absolutely can't kill.

Breakfast-wise, I found a recipe for Irish potato pancakes and I'm going to try that this week. It's basically grated potatoes and whatever you want to flavor them with, held together with flour and mashed potato and fried.

Neat sculpture! And sounds like a good hearty breakfast idea.
