When life hands you a dream with one of your cats in it, and you know (in the dream) that the cat is going to be scared half to death if things go on like that, it's nice to wake up and see the cat in question asleep on the bed and perfectly fine.

One of these days I'm going to be moving from a cube in here to a cube next door. It was supposed to happen yesterday, but P&R materials day and moving really don't go together. Then it was going to happen later this week, but there's a cube next door that has to go away first. I don't know who thought putting it where it is would be a good idea; when you open the door into the suite, there are maybe eight inches of clearance between it and the cube wall, and you can't go around the other way to get into that end of the office because there's a second cube behind the one that's in the way. So the cube that's in the way has got to go. Preferably yesterday.

I keep forgetting that this coming weekend is Memorial Day weekend and therefore I have Monday off. Having Monday off is actually quite nice, and you'd think I would remember that that's the case, but for some reason I can't. Probably because there's so much work-related stuff in my head that's happening beyond Monday. We might be the only administrative office that doesn't really care when commencement is, because we don't slow down until July.

For some reason which I can't really figure out, I memorize license plates. The Dean's assistant found out about this in the course of a conversation we had once, and now every time she has to send the Dean somewhere and needs to reserve parking, she asks me what the Dean's license plate number is. I'm not sure why this amuses me so much, but it does. (It amuses the Dean's assistant, too.)

I need to make an eye appointment somewhere, soon. I tried to order contact lenses online, and they wouldn't do it because my prescription apparently expired last month. I'm still on the Great Eye Doctor Quest, because I've given up on MEEI (they won't return phone calls), and my insurance doesn't cover New England Eye Center (which I loved). Last time I went to Cambridge Optical because it was close to home and I was in a hurry, but I didn't like them terribly much either. Anybody got any recommendations?
