This weekend I got a late start on Saturday and spent a chunk of the day trying to Get Things Done On Foot, because it was going to rain on Sunday. Except it was done raining by the time I got up on Sunday, so never mind. I went out for coffee on Sunday at lunchtime and, of course, got derailed by the goddamn Allston-Brighton Day Parade, for the fourth or fifth year in a row. I wish they'd advertise it. Anyway, the traffic was such a mess that I ended up walking around the perimeter of Brighton (Cambridge St to Brighton Ave to Harvard Ave), and wound up in Coolidge Corner. Good for the exercise points, but bad for the morale when I wanted coffee and got an odyssey. I also neglected to buy cat food, but that was because I thought I was going back that way and then decided not to. I'm going home that way tonight, though, so there will be cat food. Not that the Hairy Beasts will be terribly thrilled, because it's dry cat food, but at least they do eat it. They even eat it cheerfully when it's from a new bag. I guess it tastes better when it's brand new, although I do store it in an airtight container.

I'm starting to think I need to invest in a belt (or maybe several), since the size-14 pants are getting loose in the waist. (But not in the legs, because I walk a lot.) I've decided that when I lose the whole 45 lb, I'm going to buy myself a Millennium Falcon Lego kit. That falls squarely under "things I absolutely don't need but kinda want anyway because they're cool", and also under "inedible things to celebrate weight loss with". It would be somewhat counterproductive to celebrate weight loss with a cupcake, although if I knew where I could get one non-stale chocolate cupcake with white frosting, I would do that too. I don't really want to buy six cupcakes at a time, and the first and last time I tried a cupcake shop, I got four EXTREMELY stale mini cupcakes and threw away three of them. (Sweet in Harvard Square, if anybody cares.)

Speaking of food, tomorrow we set up the furniture (I had to rent some tables and chairs) for the curriculum blueprint meeting, and on Wednesday I have to be there at the crack of dawn to take delivery of the breakfast and make sure nothing exploded overnight, and then the meeting starts. And then I move some more furniture and take delivery of the lunch. After lunch it's over, and I can stop worrying about it. I'm not worrying about it exactly, I just want it over with so I can go on to the next thing, whatever that is. Hopefully it isn't as huge as the curriculum blueprint meeting.

It's getting dark noticeably earlier these days. I rather wish it wouldn't, although I know it has to. I think everybody who wants to abolish Daylight Saving Time has it backward; we should abolish Standard Time so it doesn't get dark at 4:30 in the winter.
