Nov. 13th, 2013 03:28 pmToday we had the dental school's Thanksgiving lunch. They asked for volunteers, and I volunteered and was assigned to serve pie. So I did that, and then went through the line for leftovers. I got to the end of the line...and slipped on some spilled cranberry sauce and dropped half of my lunch on the floor. The onlookers were very impressed that I saved the other half, and didn't actually leave my feet.
Still can't decide whether to have Lily's tooth pulled or not. It's not so much about the money (what else do I have pet insurance for?) as it is about the misery. On one hand, she doesn't act like the tooth bothers her, she hates going to the vet, it's a little teeny tooth, and getting it pulled will involve general anesthesia and leaving her at the vet's office at least all day if not overnight. On the other hand, it would be better for her not to have a bad tooth. If she were human, she'd have an appointment with a dentist already. (I love her very much, but she's my cat, not my kid.)
On Monday I have an appointment with a surgeon to talk about my gall bladder. I expect him to say that since it stopped being actively painful, it can stay where it is until it gives me problems again. The other side of that coin, however, is that I don't want to go through any more problems like the ones I had. They were painful and scary and not fun in the slightest. I don't know what the rate of recurrence is for this (I should ask), but if it's anything more than "maybe never", I'm going to seriously consider having the surgery anyway.
