Mar. 25th, 2014 04:30 pmI feel like I've metaphorically stormed the castle today. I finally got the room setup for the five lectures that need a flipped classroom format sorted out, rented the chairs (why we don't have enough chairs is one of nature's mysteries as far as I'm concerned), sent the schedule and the fact that I had rented the chairs to the Facilities guys who have to deal with them, converted the tutorial cases for this course to PDFs and posted them on the intranet, and ordered lunch for the orientation meeting on Friday (which, as it involves 35 students and four or five faculty members, is a considerable amount of sandwiches). I also finally have the correct number of tutors for the Oral Microbiology course, so that can stop weighing on my mind too.
And what do I have to show for all this, you ask? In terms of physical objects, I have an acknowledgement of the chair rental. Oh well. In terms of less concrete things, I have a sense that I might be able to sleep better tonight than I did last night (woke up early this morning worrying about the chairs and associated logistics), and I have 20-odd files up on the intranet, and I have several emails in my Sent folder.
Despite the fact that it damn well shouldn't in late March, bring on the snow.
I am now, apparently, in search of a 1940s-style blouse to go with a could-pass-for-1940s-style skirt. This is the outfit I'm going to sing jazz in on May 3, assuming it's warm enough for a mid-length skirt by then. If it isn't, I have no idea what I'm going to wear. It's supposed to be "1920s to 1940s", and I refuse to go buy a flapper dress, which is the other thing that sprang to mind. At least I have a little while to figure this out.
Speaking of clothing, I was supposed to wait until the credit card cycle after next just to have some sense of fiscal responsibility, but since I can get out of my size 12 jeans without unzipping them, I gave in and ordered new jeans. I'm generally in favor of fiscal responsibility, but right now I'm more in favor of not looking like I'm wearing my older sibling's hand-me-downs that I haven't grown into yet. I don't have an older sibling in the first place, and in the second place I haven't been growing for quite a number of years now. So the size 12 jeans can go live in the closet with the rest of the size 12 and 14 pants. So there.
