Somehow I got a B on the Semiotics exam, which is better than I expected but (of course) worse than I wanted. Kent State has a full range of grades for grad students, but I don't know if a B means a B, or if it means "the lowest grade you can get without failing", which is basically what it meant in the Prostho program. Today is cold, overcast and typically October.

I have, yet again, become the Person Who Knows Stuff About Computers, and it's entirely my fault. One of my classmates said she was having printer problems, and when she heard about my various arguments with mine, she asked me if I could look at hers, and I said I would. I know she has a Dell laptop, but I don't know anything else about it. Hopefully it will be easy, but I'll find out tomorrow. If it's a mechanical problem, I can probably fix it. If it's a driver problem, I might be able to fix it. If it's XP, I'm screwed.

We all got a week's extension on the Theory paper, which I don't think I really needed, but is nice to have anyway. At least I don't have that to deal with for the weekend my parents are here. I do, however, have another Semiotics exam to deal with sometime before and/or during that weekend, although this one might not be quite so fierce because now we have a little more clue. The syllabus we got doesn't have exam dates or any guidelines at all on it. Now we've got a limit of 20 pages for 5 questions. That'll do for a start, although DAMN, writing that much for an exam is a pain! Add a 20-page paper and all the associated research to the next two exams, and that's a lot of writing.

Given the opportunity, I think I would probably sleep for most of Saturday, but I can't afford to.
