I survived the 8th of October. (Maybe I need a commemorative shirt.) The faculty development stuff went swimmingly, but since I was at work from 7 AM, I started running out of steam at about 2:00 and was absolutely DONE by 4:45. At which point I got on the M2 and went to Cambridge for chorus rehearsal. Fortunately there was time enough between work and rehearsal for the consumption of an entire (small, by which I mean medium) pizza and more ice cream than I really needed, so I was only impossible for the last half hour of the rehearsal. When I start snarling "Oh, shut up!" at the chorus director under my breath, I'm impossible.

Fortunately the gods of the MBTA took pity on me and produced an 86 bus after rehearsal, so I was home shortly after 10:00 instead of sometime 10:30ish. Got home, fed cats, consumed an apple (it was juicy and I was thirsty), got in the bathtub and discovered I had tried to sand the skin off one of my toes and was too tired to notice. It hadn't blistered yet, but was unhappy. I propped my foot up on the faucet because the rest of me liked the bath just fine.

This morning I had permission to get to work whenever I got there, so I didn't set the alarm last night. I woke up at 7:30, made friends with the Hairy Beasts (who had been glued to me since I got home last night, and were acting somewhat worried), ambled through the usual morning routine, stopped for coffee when I got off the bus...and got to work at 8:57. Would've been sooner if the line for Dunkies had been a bit shorter. I guess that means I don't necessarily have to be pelting out the door at 7:50. Whoda thunk?

This weekend I have GOT to have a cleaning fit. One of the things I should have done before I left this morning is vacuum the living room rug, because the electrician is coming to give me a new thermostat today and the rug is covered with torn-up rug fuzz thanks to the Hairy Beasts. So I'm embarrassed. The electrician has probably seen worse, but the whole place has that sort of problems and the only reason it does is because I haven't done anything about them. Shame on me. Given that this is a long weekend, I have absolutely no lack-of-time excuses for not having a cleaning fit before Tuesday. So, pull out umbrella and yell CHARGE!
