Spent Saturday and most of yesterday in Noank, and didn't go swimming. Hung around and watched various college football games (we decided that by the time you get to the third OT, you ought to be allowed to start on the opponent's 20. If it goes to a fourth OT, you start on the opponent's 2).
The new twin mattress is miles better than the old one and miles better than the air mattress (which was better than the old mattress, but was rather like sleeping on top of a package of very large hot dogs). I'm just not used to having the edges of the mattress so close together. I didn't fall out of bed, but I did wake up a couple of times and find my foot hanging off the edge.
I just had a vacation in June, but I feel like I need another one already. I'm back to having 35 vacation days saved up, because I had topped out at 40 before I went to Iceland. But there's no good time to take any vacation in the fall except maybe Thanksgiving week. Maybe I'll actually do that. I get the week between Christmas and New Year's anyway.
I think maybe it's time to go back to taking one of the two weekend days to not do anything I don't want to. I keep putting off errands and then they end up taking until next week to get done, if they get done at all. I seem to remember that having a designated "running around and laundry" day (generally Saturday) and a "no running around unless I feel like it" day (generally Sunday) used to be a reasonable system. Having spent two of this weekend's three days not running around, I now have to cram it all into today and go to work tomorrow. That seems somewhat unfair.
