Good thing I cleaned out the fridge on Saturday; that meant there was enough weight in the trash can to keep it from going anywhere in the wind last night. And I can stop being depressed when I look in the fridge and find that the top shelf contains mostly biological experiments and extremely elderly pickles (which, being pickled, don't tend to be biological experiments. But I still didn't want to eat them.).

Over the course of the weekend I also managed to buy kitty litter for the next two weeks, and enough groceries for the week, and buy and read Julian Edelman's book, and do the laundry, and change the sheets (and find a missing sock that had been eaten by the clean fitted sheet), and cook chicken and make thoroughly mediocre chicken noodle soup, and take off the sparkly gold toenail polish. I think the polish remover is at least partly responsible for the headache I ended up with last night, which is yet another reason not to spend money on getting my nails done. I'd rather spend money on books.

The thoroughly mediocre soup started with thoroughly mediocre broth. It would have been fine if I had been using it as a base for a different-flavored soup, but as chicken noodle soup it tasted too much like celery and carrots and not enough like chicken. And then I put white meat in it and that didn't help either. I woke it up a little by heating up the broth with a couple of slices of preserved lemon, but it's pretty thoroughly mediocre anyway. Lesson learned: use the rest of that batch of broth for things like potato leek soup or mostly-tomato vegetable soup or similar.
