Grr, argh, responsible adulthood. I completely forgot about the $400 I got from cashing out a little teeny 401K last March, and merrily filed my taxes last Friday. On Saturday the 1099R for the 401K came in the mail, so now I have to file an amendment. Some of me wants to just pretend it didn't happen because it's only $400 after the taxes I already paid on it, and the rest of me is convinced I'm going to end up as one of the people in those tax relief commercials talking about how their $200,000 in unpaid back taxes turned into $300, unless I fix this yesterday.

Smitten Kitchen tried to kill me again with peanut butter cup cookies, which are actually pretty easy and would be even easier if I had counter space farther away from the oven so the frozen peanut butter part doesn't melt while I'm assembling cookies. And it would have helped if I hadn't managed to read "two tablespoons of cookie dough" and convert it to "two teaspoons", which made the cookie part thinner and harder than it was meant to be. But I got something like 20 complete cookies out of the first attempt and they're reasonably evil. (I'm not sure they need to be rolled in sugar next time, either.) But I think there will be a next time, if I can find somewhere to leave most of them because I do not need them in the house and I can't bring them to work on account of a student with a nut allergy.

If I ran the universe, the rest of this week would be canceled. But I don't, so it ain't.

I saw that recipe! I want to give it a try. My freezer never has any room in it but surely room could be found.

Do you have someone do your taxes or do you just do them? A similar tax form situation came up for us when one of Matt's forms got lost, he filed the amendment without a charge.
