Last weekend, Sunday was a mess. This weekend, Saturday was a mess. I'd like a weekend in which neither day is a mess.
Saturday was a mess because Friday night was the spring chorus concert, and I'd had my arm twisted into selling CDs. So I never got to see the actual concert, but I did sell something over $100 of CDs and took something like $200 of pre-orders. Everyone wants the Bach from last fall. But the concert started at 8:00, so by the time we were packing up it was 10:30, and then I went out for dinner and/or beer with the woman who provides the CDs. So by the time I got home it was after midnight, and by the time I got to sleep it was after 1:00 because I still had to feed the cats and unwind a bit.
Then Lily decided I was going to be awake at 7:30. I gave up arguing about that at 7:45 and got up, but I knew it was going to be a nap day and it was raining anyway. So I played (and won) a game of Civ (Russia beat Poland, Spain and the Netherlands) until 4:00, at which point I had lunch. After which I got cold and couldn't warm up again, so I fell asleep in the bathtub at 6:30. That's too early for actual bedtime, so I hauled myself out of the tub and fell asleep in front of the TV at 8:00, and went to bed for good at 9:15.
Today is better. I slept until 8:00 and proceeded to get up and get showered, and went grocery shopping, and came home and had lunch and cleaned the living daylights out of the litterbox and associated bits of the pantry. I have to go out again for tub cleaner (because I have to clean the tub after I've cleaned the litterbox in it, and I seem to be out of tub cleaner) and a new dustpan because I knocked a giant chip out of the side of it somehow. But that's easy. And then I can come home and put the laundry in the dryer, and vacuum the rugs and Swiffer the floors and clean the tub, the toilet, the stove and both sinks, and say I don't live in a pigsty.
The summer chorus, which I don't usually participate in, is doing Carmina Burana. I'm going to have to do summer chorus this year, because (a) Carmina Burana is on my bucket list to sing and (b) it's not the conductor who drove me to take this semester off singing (I said he's as English as it's possible to get, in that you don't hear about it when you do it right, but you hear about it extensively when you do it wrong. The person I was talking to, who's also in the chorus, said he's so English he's practically German. I just about died laughing.). When I sing with him in fall and spring, I take the summer off. And (c) it's only June 26-August 3, so I can fit scuba lessons into the summer around it. O Fortuna...
